The Game Awards 2023 nominees have officially been revealed! Hosted by Geoff Keighley, this annual event celebrates the best in video game innovation, storytelling, and design. Fans can now cast their votes on the official Game Awards website.
Set to air on December 7, this year’s show brings exciting news for Nintendo fans: both The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder are nominated for Game of the Year—a rare double nomination for the same publisher.
While Tears of the Kingdom was a widely expected nominee thanks to its massive scope and creative mechanics like Ultrahand and Ascend, Super Mario Bros. Wonder surprised many by making the shortlist, especially given its recent release.
The full list of Game of the Year nominees includes:
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Alan Wake II
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Resident Evil 4
Though many fans are rooting for Tears of the Kingdom, critics and industry voices have been particularly impressed by the storytelling in Alan Wake II and the scale of Baldur’s Gate 3. Those two may be frontrunners, but Zelda remains a strong contender—especially in categories like Best Action/Adventure and Best Game Direction.
With its groundbreaking gameplay systems and creative design, Tears of the Kingdom may still walk away with major wins.
You can view the full list of categories and nominees—and place your votes—on the official Game Awards website.
