Toronto Dedicated Nintendo Store at EB Games: Will We Finally Get Nintendo Direct Watch Parties?
Big news for us local gaming fans: a Toronto Dedicated Nintendo Store is officially coming to the heart of the city. Nintendo of Canada and EB Games just announced a brand-new permanent store-within-a-store opening inside the flagship EB Games location at 267 Yonge Street in Toronto.
The 1,500-square-foot dedicated space officially opens on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. According to the press release, this marks Nintendo’s first-ever permanent store-within-a-store setup in North America.
Why 267 Yonge Street is the Absolute Perfect Location
Having recently relocated to Toronto, I know this is a great spot. If you live here or have ever visited downtown, you know the Yonge Street EB Games is easily one of the biggest and busiest gaming stores in the city.
- It sits right in the beating heart of downtown Toronto, just steps from Yonge-Dundas Square (now Sankofa Square).
- You have the massive CF Toronto Eaton Centre directly across the street.
- It’s surrounded by endless food spots, transit access, and downtown energy, making it an insanely easy destination to hang out at for a full afternoon.
If Nintendo was going to pick one spot in Canada to build a dedicated retail experience, putting it in the middle of Toronto’s highest-foot-traffic district is a masterstroke.
What to Expect in This Dedicated Nintendo Space?
According to the official announcement, the dedicated area will feature:
- Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware and Software: Equipped with playable demo stations so fans can test out the latest titles live in-store.
- Immersive Photo Ops: Nintendo-themed displays and character installations built specifically for social media moments.
- Exclusive Merch Drops: A curated selection of My Mario merchandise, including special items exclusive to this Toronto location in Canada.
My Take: Are Nintendo Direct Watch Parties Finally Coming to Canada?
If you’ve ever watched those chaotic, high-energy YouTube videos of fans reacting to announcements at the Nintendo Store in Rockefeller Center in NYC, you know that live watch parties are the absolute peak of Nintendo fandom. Getting to scream together in a room full of people when a new Zelda trailer hits is unmatched.
If this new Yonge Street spot ends up hosting official watch parties, I’ll be glad to save myself a New York plane ticket!
While neither Nintendo nor EB Games has officially confirmed event plans just yet, having a dedicated 1,500-square-foot footprint in the center of downtown feels like the ideal setup for Nintendo Canada to start hosting local watch parties, midnight launches, and community tournaments.
Why a Permanent Canadian Hub Matters for Local Gamers
For years, Canadian Nintendo fans have watched major pop-up events and exclusive physical rewards launch strictly in international flagship stores like New York, Tokyo, or Osaka. Having a permanent Toronto Dedicated Nintendo Store inside an iconic flagship retailer changes the dynamic for local collectors and casual fans alike.
Instead of ordering exclusive character gear online and waiting weeks for shipping, Canadian fans finally have a physical home base to test new hardware, snag exclusive merchandise, and meet up with other local players. It turns a routine trip downtown into a full-on destination experience for anyone passionate about Nintendo.
This won’t be an official Nintendo Store, but it’ll be close enough! I’m really looking forward to this.
