The Tiki Tak Tribe has stolen Donkey Kong Country™ Returns HD , and it’s up to Donkey Kong (and his pals) to get it back! Before you jump into the action, here are some handy tips to help you master the controls and start your adventure strong.
Choosing Your Mode
When starting a new game, you’ll pick between Modern Mode and Original Mode:
- Original Mode: Just like the classic Wii version—you get only two hearts and can take one item per level.
- Modern Mode: More forgiving, with three hearts, more items from Cranky Kong’s Shop, and the ability to carry up to nine items into a level.
💡 Important: Once you pick a mode, you can’t change it!
Master the Moves
- Jump (A/B Button) – Tap to jump, hold for a higher jump. Bounce off enemies to gain momentum!
- Barrel Roll (X/Y Button) – Charge forward to take down foes. Press A/B mid-roll to jump farther!
- Ground Pound (X/Y Button) – Slap the ground to stun enemies and uncover hidden items.
- Blow (X/Y + L Stick Down) – Blow air to put out fires and reveal secrets.
- Grab (L/R Button) – Pick up barrels and vines—perfect for getting past spiked areas.
Team Up in Co-op Mode!
Play with a friend and control Diddy Kong, who brings some unique moves:
- Barrel Jet – Hover mid-air for extra distance.
- Peanut Popgun – Fire at enemies to clear your path.
- Hop On DK’s Back – Act as a turret while DK moves!
