The long-awaited Nintendo Museum in Kyoto is one step closer to opening its doors. This week, Nintendo officially revealed the first look at the museum’s signage—a sleek new logo displayed on the exterior of the facility located in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture.
While the project was teased during the September Nintendo Direct, fans can now catch a full glimpse of the museum’s evolving facade. Japanese outlet Famitsu first shared the update, with a more detailed visual posted on Nintendo Japan’s official Instagram, featuring a time-lapse of the logo at various times of day.
Scheduled for completion by March 2024, the Nintendo Museum is being built at the site of the former Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant. It will serve as a permanent exhibition space celebrating the legacy of Nintendo’s game development history and philosophy. Visitors can expect a “wide variety” of displays and iconic products, covering everything from early consoles to modern Switch-era innovations.
Originally announced in 2021, the museum is part of a broader redevelopment initiative in Uji City. Nintendo shared that the plant renovation was chosen in coordination with local plans to revitalize the Ogura Station area.
An official opening date is still to be confirmed, but Nintendo promises more details soon.
