To kick off San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the LEGO Group has revealed an exciting new addition to its LEGO Super Mario lineup—this time starring the fan-favourite duo Mario and Yoshi. Inspired by their classic look in Super Mario World, this nostalgic set marks Yoshi’s debut in 2D LEGO pixel form.
The set recreates the iconic sprite-based design from the original Super Nintendo game and includes animated features, such as a running Yoshi with Caped Mario on his back, and a functioning tongue mechanism—a direct nod to Yoshi’s signature move.
“We wanted to bring the Super Mario World sprite art to life,” said Carl Merriam, Senior Designer at LEGO. “It was all about capturing the charm and animation of the original game.”
Part of the Adults Welcome collection, the LEGO Super Mario: Mario & Yoshi Set is both interactive and display-worthy—joining other fan-favorite sets like The Mighty Bowser and Piranha Plant.
This release follows the buzz of the Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set recently unveiled for The Legend of Zelda fans, continuing LEGO’s trend of celebrating iconic Nintendo franchises in brick form.
