Nintendo fans just got a closer look at one of the most exciting upcoming releases: Kirby Air Riders, arriving November 20, 2025 on the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system. In a brand-new Kirby Air Riders Direct presentation, game director Masahiro Sakurai walked fans through the game’s modes, characters, and explosive vehicular action.

This isn’t just a remake of the 2003 GameCube classic Kirby Air Ride—it’s a full expansion of the idea, now with more riders, machines, and gameplay depth than ever before.

Fast, Fun, and Unpredictable Action

Players will speed through courses across land, sea, and sky, piloting unique Air Ride machines that each handle differently. From boost dashes and drifts to special attacks unique to each rider, every race brings strategy and chaos. Kirby himself even gets multiple specials—one for each of his color variations.

Expanded Roster of Riders

While Kirby, Meta Knight, and King Dedede are here, fans can also pick from series regulars like Bandana Waddle Dee, Chef Kawasaki, and even classic enemies like Starman. Each rider’s weight, attack style, and durability add new layers of unpredictability, especially when paired with different machines.

Returning City Trial Mode—Bigger Than Ever

One of the highlights of the showcase was the return of City Trial mode, now expanded onto a massive floating island called Skyah. Players start with a basic machine and must gather power-ups, attack rivals, and survive random Field Events—from short races to boss encounters with Kirby foes like Kracko. Once the time runs out, upgraded machines head to the Stadium phase for one final battle.
